Sunday Morning Pickup Game

Back at Mountain View Park. The last time I played here was on 2024-08-11.

We played nine versus nine (or so) on small goals, while a full 11-on-11 game was happening on the nearby big field. Some of the players there looked familiar, but I had no idea how their game was organized or when they started. Scott was not there, so I had no one to ask. Erick mentioned that he tried to join them, but they refused, saying they were full:)

I played for the white team with Mike, Erick, Neil, and a few others. We had a slow start, conceding about four goals in a row. Erick scored, and I followed with a goal of my own, but I did not feel like running much after being sick the previous week. We definitely lost the first half, probably around 2:6.

I wanted to win, so I tried to motivate my teammates at half-time, reminding them that we just needed to score a few goals and defend well. We scored early in the second half, which was a good sign, but then we conceded again, keeping the gap at three or four goals. Toward the end, my performance improved, and I scored three consecutive goals. One was when I stole the ball from Aki, who was playing as the last defender. Btw. I had not seen him in about two years.

We called it a day after my third goal in the second half. It turned out that was the winning goal. I doubted it, but the others said we had played the second half as a completely new game, which we won. So, yeah, haha!
