SUASL Soccer Match (fall season; semifinals)

I came in with a painful core and back from Friday’s workout. Still played the whole first half and did my best. The game ended at halftime.

Before the match, I tried running without the knee brace, but I soon realized it was not a good idea. So I put it on.

Playoff intensity showed immediately. We went up 2:0 with goals by Erick and Jason. Jason's goal was a cross that dropped straight into the net. Lucky but impressive. I had one shot from about 16 yards, straight down the middle.

Then Jason got into a fight with one of their players. Both received red cards. A few others, including Brian, joined in and picked up yellows. Shortly after, during regular play, there were nasty fouls leading to more yellows. Since those players were already booked, it resulted in two more reds, one per team. On our side, that was Brian. Halftime tally: four red cards!

At halftime, the referee realized that their player who received the first red card had changed jerseys and rejoined play. The match was terminated and awarded to us as a 3:0 forfeit. We likely would have won anyway. But my not-fully-recovered knee appreciated the early finish. Instead of a second half, I played with the ball and watched the drama of Scott's team match, which they won very luckily.
